Thank you for your interest
in private voice lessons. I would now like to share with you some of
the details of my method of teaching and how I conduct lessons. Please
read below and contact me by clicking here
to schedule a lesson.
TEACHING STYLE:
* I teach students of all ages, from the youngest child wanting to
learn the basics of music to those who have decided to start something
new and exciting a little later in life. I try to make lessons as
educational and fun as I can. I am very easy going, yet at the same
time require the work that it takes to progress. I start my students
out with a routine for building a strong vocal foundation, including
exercises, songs that will serve as exercises (such as classical or
musical type pieces), and then we add songs of the students choosing.
I have a CD of vocal exercises which contains almost one hour of vocal
exercises with explanations for each of the exercises and helpful
tips. I sell this to students for $9.00, and it has proven to be wonderful
for all of my students so far. It is easy to use, and it makes practicing
fly by! I have seen students improve tremendously with the use of
this CD!
* Each lesson can be recorded
directly to CD at the time of the lesson. The recording process produces
a CD of wonderful quality and takes no extra time to burn after being
recording. With this technology, learning music and vocal technique
is a breeze. I record the music and the accompaniments, as well as
any foreign language pronunciation and translations for classical
pieces, onto a CD, and usually a student can learn the song in just
one week. With such a streamlined process, it is possible to perfect
any problems in a song and prepare it for performance.
* I encourage my students
to perform in recitals. There are three recitals a year, fall semester,
spring semester and summer semester. Performance in a recital is not
required, however, if the student is prepared, I think it is a wonderful
opportunity to experience the joys of achievement and of sharing their
gift with others. Many times it is a life changing event, revealing
to a person who is new to singing that they can truly do it!
* I approach each student
as an individual, but I also ensure that the student is singing in
a way that is healthy. Many people do not know it, but it is very
easy to cause irreparable damage to the vocal chords. This can be
caused merely by singing (or speaking) incorrectly! I remind students
of this very often, because it is of the utmost importance to me that
this not happen. I have seen far too many singers who have had less
than adequate technical skill, which causes this damage.
This is a basic idea of
how I conduct singing lessons. If you have any further questions,
do not hesitate to contact
me!
PRICING: Lesson prices
are $24 for 30 minutes, and $42 for an hour. I ask that you pay cash
at each lesson if you take on a lesson-to-lesson basis. (I accepted
checks in the past and had trouble with returned ones. That is why I
ask for cash now. I hope this will pose no problem. If so, we can discuss
it.) I do take checks for students who sign up for a weekly time
slot, payable on a monthly basis.
LESSON TIMES: I request
that students also choose a time and stick to it. I have many inquiries
each day for lessons, so if a lesson is not strictly attended, it may
have to be given to another student.) If a student is late for a lesson,
I will give them the rest of the lesson time, but the full charge is
still required. If you cannot make a lesson, I require 48 hours notice.
Otherwise, the lesson fee must be paid. Reasons for which missing a
lesson may be excused are: bad weather, for which Fulton county schools
have closed, the following holidays: New Year, Martin Luther King Day,
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and
if the I am not available due to extreme illness or rehearsal/performance
schedule (in which case, I will make up the lesson(s) as soon as possible.)
Thank you very
much for your interest in private voice lessons! I look very forward
to meeting and working with you! |
