Evan has been teaching piano to beginner through intermediate students, ages five to teens, for almost ten years. She is a fun and encouraging teacher and adjusts her teaching approach based on each student's individual needs. At the same time, she makes sure that the student is learning to adequately read musical pitch and rhythm and truly understand how music works. Evan also teaches her piano students the basics of musical phrasing, articulation and various aspects of piano technique. Private piano lessons with Evan are a great way to get your child started at this invaluable musical discipline or to transition your child to a new and exciting approach to piano. Evan generally uses a European approach to piano study rather than the typical American methods technique, such as Alfred and Bastien. While she is open to continuing to work with students in these techniques who have begun their studies this way and by no means disregards these, she generally relies more on the freedom of the "old world" approach, which leads to better sight-reading and much quicker transition into "real" music and out of level books. Evan usually begins her students on Misha V. Stefanuk's The European Piano Method, Book 1, a book Evan and Misha collaborated to create especially for their piano students to get the most out of their lessons and progress! The book can be purchased with accompaniment CD, which offers the student a great way to work on coordination and continuity and have fun playing along with the exciting and beautiful background music. (also available on Amazon.com, titled name Piano for Adults - same book.) Email Evan today with any questions you might have about lessons, and schedule your first lesson today! |
